Preparing and carrying out the “Pied-à-terre” project in various settings has served as a sort of pretext for buying large quantities of shoes, stockings, and dresses.
“Pied-à-terre” is a playful and philosophical exploration of the body, movement, and desire, focusing—among other things—on legs and footwear (touching upon the theme of foot fetishism).
At the same time, I have worn these shoes, stockings, dresses, and other garments in my everyday life—including visits to the gym three or four times a week, where I would take photos of myself in the locker room.
Going to the gym is one of the few constants in a life otherwise characterized by a chaotic schedule. Shopping for clothes and the like, however, is a way of relieving stress that borders on addiction.
Assembling the costumes, meanwhile, acts as a form of performative self-therapy.
